Joe Cooper Design, LLC - Cabinet Shop
This cabinet shop is located within the Ravenhill office complex and adjoins the company's main office. Here Joe Cooper Design, LLC maintains a focus on cabinetry and its interface with interior finish design. Cooper, the leader of Ravenhill's cabinet shop for nearly thirty years, applies refined design and build skills in close association with architects, clients and master craftsmen. His team spends most of their time in the shop, prepping their custom-made cabinets, bookshelves, closet units, and artistic mounts for installation. The team creates striking, one-of-a-kind furniture pieces that fit perfectly into custom Ravenhill homes. Outstanding examples of Joe's work can be found in projects such as the Plath home, the Pearl Island Retreat, the Todd Home and most recently the Pear Point Project.

Credence Ross
Raised on a farm in Eastern WA, Credence
learned carpentry skills as a teen by helping
to build the family home on raw acreage
along the Columbia River. Prior to
relocating to San Juan Island in 2002, he
studied computer science at WA State
University with a focus on mathematics.
Growing up in a musical family, as you may
have guessed from his name, Credence is
an avid musician. He enjoys family time
traveling or at home with his two school-
aged daughters. He keeps busy working
on various building projects at home, most
recently a bedroom addition, an art studio
and a wood-fired barrel sauna. A member
of the Ravenhill team for nearly twenty
years, Credence is experienced in all
aspects of home building and project
management.
Mike Murphy
Raised in San Diego CA, Mike relocated to San Juan Island twenty years ago. Mike split his time between San Juan and Shaw Island for several years. Family life is busy for Mike as a father to two boys in elementary and at Spring Street International School. A former chef and Professional Brewer, Mike has an appreciation for local foods and craft beers. You might find Mike smoking salmon, shrimping & crabbing, camping or playing various instruments with his boys. Mike has worked with the Economic Development Council trying to establish more local involvement for work in the trades. He has taught an Introduction To Basic Construction course and works with the EDC in getting more classes such as plumbing and electrical available to islanders. With almost two decades of experience on Ravenhill job sites, Mike brings a variety of building expertise to the company.
Orion Powell
Island born and a second generation
Ravenhill carpenter, Orion's father Eric
Powell has nearly 40 years with the
company. An avid sailor with an interest in
restoring classic wooden
boats, Orion studied at the Northwest
School of Wooden Boatbuilding in Port
Townsend, Washington. On the edge of
town Orion built his family home and is the
father to three active young boys. He is
usually found working on projects that
spread joy, whether it is building pet homes
and other crazy creations with his kids or a
deck for a friend. Once in a while he takes a
break and enjoys slowing down on Johns
Island. With so much history with Ravenhill,
he is truly proud and feels privileged to be a
part of this custom home building team.
Peter Kilpatrick
Ravenhill's founder Peter Kilpatrick always knew he wanted to build. Growing up he was famous for his use of challenging materials in an endless series of forts, a steel framed dome and later his recycled wood island cabin. A growing family and the need to express his developing architectural vision found Pete building his 'big' house when a fire destroyed his cabin. A few years later Ravenhill Construction was founded. Pete and his wife Becky have made significant contributions to the island community. Pete is a member of the Board for The Community Home Trust and is a member of The San Juan Initiative, which looks for solutions to clean up Puget Sound. Pete is continuing on alongside the new owners of Ravenhill on an as-needed basis in an advisory consultant role.
Steve Cutting
A San Juan Island general contractor with
years of experience building homes for his
own company, Steve joined Ravenhill most
recently. Steve and his wife Debra live on
San Juan Island and have a grown son.
When he's not on the job, Steve enjoys
traveling and surfing. He is a musician and
performs in a band for community
audiences. As a lead foreman and project
manager, his knowledge is key in overall
project development and execution.
Shelle Cropper
As Office Manager, Shelle is a vital member
of the Ravenhill team. She performs the
enormous task of keeping the company
organized and is constantly looking out for
the best interests of our employees and
clients. A native Northwesterner, She loves
the rainy, windy, gray days when it's hard to
tell the difference between the water and
the sky. A graduate of The Evergreen State
College, with a teaching degree from
Western Washington University, Shelle
spends her real time writing, quilting,
gardening and learning to play the violin.
Shelle and her husband Ellis, an Alaskan
fisherman and longtime member of the
Ravenhill team, have two beautiful grown
children and recently welcomed their first
grandchild to the family.
