New Owners Ravenhill Construction

Peter Kilpatrick has sold Ravenhill Construction, Inc. to longtime employees Credence Ross, Mike Murphy and Orion Powell. Peter will continue in a management role as a consultant for two years. This will allow the new partners to focus on supervision and completion of their individual construction projects and ensure a smooth transition.

Ravenhill has been building custom homes in San Juan County since 1980 and is recognized as one of the leading builders of unique homes in the Pacific Northwest. We will continue our tradition of quality, creativity and comprehensive management which has resulted in a body of work that has been frequently awarded and showcased in both regional and national publications as well as architectural competitions.

Staying on with Ravenhill are several skilled and experienced project foremen including Lloyd Thompson, Dan Bacon, Eric Powell and Steve Cutting. Longtime Office Manager Shelle Cropper will contribute her years of experience with company organization and oversight of sub-contractors, employees and clients. Sean O’Connell will be continuing his work in the office, helping with all stages of project management. In the cabinet shop adjoining the office, Joe Cooper Design, LLC will maintain focus on cabinetry and its interface with interior finish design. Jonathan Hu will continue to work alongside Ravenhill as an independent designer, specializing in innovative design-build solutions.

Ravenhill is looking forward to a seamless transition with this new partnership and will continue to develop a close working relationship with each client, providing detailed guidance during the planning and execution of each construction project.

Agosta Home 2001 AIA Seattle Gold Medal Winner

The Agosta Home, William and Karin Agosta’s San Juan Island home, built by Ravenhill Construction, Inc. and designed by Patkau Architects of Vancouver, B.C. has received one of three Gold Medal awards at the recent 50th annual AIA Seattle Honor Awards program. In the words of one juror, the Agosta Home “…creates a threshold entered from an open meadow…as if it had grown out of the ground, an elemental poetic structure.”

Two other entries, the Todd Bunkhouse designed by the Seattle Architectural firm GGLO and the Martin Home designed by Prentiss Associates of Seattle and Friday Harbor, were also built by Ravenhill Construction, Inc.

Juror Maryann Thompson of Thompson Architects of Boston said the Seattle AIA’s 189 submissions were of the highest quality she had ever judged.

Ravenhill Construction, Inc.’s owner, Peter Kilpatrick sees this award as confirmation that the highest level of homes are being designed and built in the San Juan Islands. “The standard of quality in the homes built by local construction companies are continually considered to be of the highest in the country.” Ravenhill Construction, Inc. has had work featured in the 2001 July/August issue of Seattle MagazineSeattle Magazine, the 2001 July/August issue of Seattle Homes and Lifestyles MagazineSeattle Homes and Lifestyles Magazine and in the newly released Taunton press book: The Cabin: Inspiration for the Classic American Getaway.
