Architect: Graham Baba Architects :: Lopez Island :: Date Finished: 2004
This three story home is located near Fisherman’s Bay on Lopez Island. The house and garage were designed by Jim Graham of Graham Baba Architects, Seattle.
The Plath cabin will serve as a summer home on Lopez, and headquarters for big family get-togethers that include boating, fishing and a myriad of other outdoor activities.
The five-bedroom, five-bath main house features a great room on the main floor with massive roof trusses built with salvaged Australian gumwood timbers. Downstairs you’ll find the family room, a wine cellar, a steam room and expansive sliding glass doors opening out to the patio and beach. The owner’s suite is upstairs, and has an incredible sunset view to the west.
The detached garage includes a bunkroom, accessed via a spiral staircase. Both structures feature a copper roof, as well as generous application of native fieldstone for the fireplaces and exterior retaining walls.
